LAST NIGHT I HAD THE STRANGEST DREAM
(learned during the 1960s; words and music by Ed McCurdy)
Last night I had the strangest dream, I never dreamed before,
And when the papers all were signed, and a million copies made,
Last night I had the strangest dream, I never dreamed before,
(from miriam berg's folksong collection)
I dreamed the world had all agreed To put an end to war.
I dreamed I saw a great big room, filled with women and men,
The papers they were signing said they'd never fight again.
The people bowed their heads in prayer, and grateful prayers were prayed.
The people in the streets below were dancing round and round,
And guns and planes and uniforms were scattered on the ground.
I dreamed the world had all agreed to put an end to war.
